Podcasts leverage existing infrastructure – database driven blogging content management systems and conventional web hosting. No complex streaming architecture is needed. Thus it is easy for any corporation large or small to dabble in the new medium – internally or externally – without a tremendous outlay or infrastructure upgrade. In his presentation, Damien Stolarz gives an overview of all the major technologies that go into videoblogging and podcasting, and discusses how quickly a podcast can be integrated into an existing web presence.
He believes that it is important for everyone to be buzzword-compliant and reviews the various terms that are part of the podcasting vocabulary. He discusses the differences between streaming media and podcasting, defines terms such as RSS and XML, and reviews the importance of considering the various ways that content is reviewed by the consumer.
Damien Stolarz is an inventor, entrepreneur and writer who has spent most of his life making electronic devices talk to each other. He is currently the Chief Technology Officer of MP3Car.com, developers of the StreetDeck car PC software and the leading worldwide forum, designer, and online retailer of car PC parts and accessories. Damien holds a B.S. in Computer Science/Engineering from UCLA.
